About WitchNamesGenerator.com

Welcome to WitchNamesGenerator.com. This site is a passion project built around one simple idea. Witch names should feel real, carry meaning, and come from traditions worth exploring. I started this site after years of researching folklore, mythology, and the linguistic roots that give witch names their power. What began as research notes for my own fantasy writing turned into something I wanted to share with other writers, gamers, and modern witches.

Marisa Henry

I write every article on this site. I research every name, cross-check every meaning, and build every tool with the goal of helping other creators find the right name. I live in Houston, Texas and have been fascinated by folklore and witch traditions since I was a teenager.

WitchNamesGenerator.com is not run by a faceless team or an AI content farm. Every name list, every guide, and every article you read here comes from my own research and editing. If you spot an error, want to suggest a name, or have a question about a tradition I covered, you can reach me directly through our contact page. I read every message myself.

Why I Created This Site

A few years ago, I was writing a fantasy novel and needed witch names for several characters. I tried every witch name generator on the internet. Most of them gave me random words smashed together. Nothing felt rooted. Nothing felt like it carried actual history.

So I started building my own reference list. I pulled from Latin, Greek, Welsh, Old English, Norse, Celtic, Slavic, and other traditions. I researched real witch trials, read mythology books, studied name etymology, and looked at how famous witches in fiction got their names. The list grew to thousands of names, each with a real meaning behind it.

That reference list became WitchNamesGenerator.com. The tool uses the same database I built for my own writing. The articles cover the research I did along the way. The guides share what I learned about choosing a witch name that actually fits your character or practice.

Our Mission

Mission Statement

To be the most trusted source for authentic witch names on the internet, with every name backed by real linguistic roots, mythology research, or folklore tradition.

We are not here to list random words. We are here to help writers build better characters, help modern witches find craft names with real meaning, and help gamers create memorable NPCs for their campaigns. Every name on this site passed my research check. Every article went through my editing.

What Makes This Site Different

You will find hundreds of witch name sites on Google. Most copy from each other. Here is how this one is different.

Research-Backed Names Every name has a real meaning sourced from etymology dictionaries, mythology texts, or witch trial records.
One Human Author I write and edit every piece myself. No content farms, no AI-only articles, no ghostwriters.
Free Generator Tool Over 50,000 name combinations, zero signup required, free for commercial and personal use.
Deep Topic Coverage From gothic witches to kitchen witches to Slavic Baba Yaga tradition, each type gets a proper guide.
Respect for Tradition I avoid appropriating closed practices and credit cultural origins where names come from.
Regular Updates Content gets refreshed when new fantasy fiction, witch TV shows, or trends emerge.

What You Can Do Here

WitchNamesGenerator.com is built for several types of visitors. If you are one of them, here is where to start.

Editorial Standards

Content quality matters. Here is how I keep this site reliable.

Research first. Before any name goes on this site, I check its origin against etymology dictionaries, mythology references, or historical records. If a name's meaning cannot be verified, I note that in the article.

Original writing. I write every article myself. I do not copy from other witch name sites. I use my own research, my own voice, and my own editorial judgment on what belongs here.

Updates and corrections. If I get something wrong, I fix it. If new fantasy fiction introduces iconic witch names, I update the relevant articles. Readers who spot errors can email me and I will correct the content.

No clickbait. No "You will not believe what this witch name means" headlines. Just clear, honest titles that match the content.

No deceptive advertising. Any affiliate links or sponsored content gets clearly labeled. I will not recommend tools or products I do not personally believe in.

Site History

WitchNamesGenerator.com launched in June 2026. The site grew from my personal research notes into a public resource for fantasy writers, modern witches, and gamers. In the first few months, we published guides covering green witches, kitchen witches, gothic witches, Celtic traditions, and dozens of other topics.

The site continues to grow. New articles publish every Monday and Thursday, with topics drawn from reader questions, trending witch content in books and TV, and gaps I notice in existing witch name resources online.
