I'm Marisa Henry, the founder and editor of WitchNamesGenerator.com. I built this site because I wanted a witch name generator that did more than spit out random words — one that gave names with real meaning, real history, and real magic behind them.
My fascination with witch names started years ago while researching folklore for a fantasy story. I noticed how the best witch names — Hecate, Morrigan, Circe, Bellatrix — all carried weight rooted in old languages. They sounded ancient because they were ancient. That insight became the foundation for everything on this site.
Every name in our generator is curated by hand. Every meaning is researched. Every style — from dark gothic to celestial mystical — draws from real traditions, not invented filler. If you're a writer, a roleplayer, or someone choosing a personal craft name, my goal is to give you names worth using.
Every article on this site is written or personally edited by me. Here's what I cover:
I write every article on this site myself, then double-check every fact, every meaning, and every historical reference before publishing. When I cite a name's origin or a folklore tradition, it's sourced from actual etymological dictionaries, witch trial records, or established mythology texts — never invented.
The generator itself draws from a curated database of over 50,000 possible name combinations. Each one is designed to feel authentic to its style — whether that's a 1600s hedge witch, a celestial oracle, a fae enchantress, or a modern Wiccan craft name.
If you ever spot an error or want to suggest a name we should add, I read every message personally.
Have feedback, a name suggestion, a correction, or a collaboration idea? I'd love to hear from you.
